Meetings

Meetings are NOW held at the Watervliet Senior Center on the second SATURDAY of every month from September through June at 10:30 am. Meetings begin with a social time, then a short business meting at 11 AM and then a feature program. Speakers are the best available in the Civil War community, many of whom are members of the Round Table. Occasionally, the date, time, and location of our meetings vary, so be sure to check the Meetings page for any changes.

In addition to the Google map link below, a link to detailed directions to the Watervliet Senior Center can be found at the bottom of this page.

Information for Speakers

Description of the Round Table

  • Round Table presentations begin at 11 am on the second Saturday of each month (except for July and August) at the Watervliet Senior Center, Watervliet,  NY. This location is easily accessible within the NY Capital District via major highways.
  • Most members are well acquainted with Civil War History and usually have insightful questions to pose to the speaker. There is a high percentage of authors, researchers, and active and retired museum professionals in the group.
  • Money raised at various Civil War reenactments, derived from the sales of books, t-shirts, and sweatshirts, is donated to various charitable causes such as preserving endangered Civil War battlefield land

Expectations of Speakers

  • Our presenters come from the membership ranks and from outside sources such as battlefield guides, scholars, experts, and authors.
  • Topics often have a New York connection
  • Speakers are encouraged, but not required, to include a visual component such as PowerPoint or Google Slides during their presentation
  • Round Table provides speakers with a PowerPoint projector, and screen. Please bring a laptop computer to the meeting.
  • Presentations are usually 45 minutes with time for a question-and-answer session.
  • The Round Table might be able to pay motel expenses if a presenter is traveling a distance of 50 miles or more.

Civil War experts and scholars who are interested in presenting to the Round Table should email cdcwrt@hotmail.com
